グラミン銀行で名高い、バングラデッシュのムハマド・ユヌス氏がノーベル平和賞を受賞したとIHTが“Nobel for peace to banker”というタイトルで報じている。
“Muhammad Yunus, the Bangladeshi microcredit pioneer, and his Grameen Bank were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, on Friday for their work in advancing economic andd social opportunities for the poor. Yunus, a 65-year-oldeconomist dubbed the “banker of the poor,” will share the prize with the bank he founded in 1976. “There is a link between peace oand poverty,” Yunus said.”
このMicrocreditとは、小額融資のことで、発展途上国の小さな新会社に低金利で小額のお金を貸すことを意味する。
