Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949)

 高校時代に、"The Road to Wigan Pier"などを読まされて、"Animal Farm"(「動物農場」)にも親しみを覚え、George Orwell に興味をもった。

 今回”Nineteen Eighty-Four" George Orwell (1949) をなんとか読み終えたけど、これは読んだといえるレベルではありませんね。なにしろ語彙がむずかしい。すらすらとは到底読めない。ということで再度挑戦したい。

It was one of those pictures which are so contrived that the eyes follow you about when you move. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU, the caption beneath it ran. (p.5)
