デイリーショーのジョン＝スチュワート(Jon Stewart)がオスカー賞の司会をやるらしい。
「今年のアカデミーは、政治を避けるわけにはいかないかも」(At this year's Academy Awards ceremony, politics may be unavoidable.)ということなのだろうか。
CNNで流れていたのだが、ジョンス＝チュワートは直接映画界に関係ないから、オスカー賞とジョン＝スチュワートという異色の取り合わせということになるのだろう。

彼は、"I bombed once so badly at Radio City Music Hall when they reopened and when I walked offstage Shirley Jones hugged me, the 'Partridge Family' mother," he told CNN's Larry King.というように、以前のウケなかった(bombed)経験を告白している。
「ウケない」は、bombである。「ウケないこと」は、bombingである。“he's not afraid of bombing Sunday.”と、ジョン＝スチュワートのことが紹介されている。
「最新日米口語辞典」によれば、「ウケない」には、lay an eggという「俗語的表現」もある。反対に「ウケる」は、make a hitである。
