このTVガイドはインターナショナル版で、日本の状況紹介も佐藤忠男氏が担当して執筆している。
日本の番組では、ラフカディオ＝ハーンを扱った「日本の面影」が際立っていたと佐藤氏が報告している。「日本昔ばなし」にも触れている。
ビデオカセットレコーダーの普及率にも触れていて、日本の現状の普及率では、30～35％だという。
