高校時代に愛聴したアルバム"Four Way Street"。
"Four Way Street"のアルバム中、ロック編より、アコースティック編のほうがものすごくよいということではないが、アコースティック編のほうが少しよいと書いていることなんかも読んでいて楽しい。
わたしの愛聴した"On the Way Home"は壊滅的と書きつつ、"Don't Let It Bring You Down"をアルバムのハイライトのひとつと評価している。
わたしが興味を覚えたのは、"Don't Let It Bring You Down"を紹介する前の Neil Young の MCにおけるジョークだ。
高校時代に何度も聴いた"Four Ways Street" の Neil Young の MCジョークは記憶に残っているからだ。
Here's a new song that's guaranteed to bring you right down...it's called "Don't Let It Bring You Down"... sort of starts off real slow and then it fizzles out altogether.

学生時代に愛聴した "On the Beach"(1974), "Zuma"(1975), "Comes a Time"(1978), "Rust Never Sleeps"(1979)。社会人になってから愛聴した "Freedom"(1989), "Rugged Glory" (1990) などのアルバムの記述で参考になる箇所が少なくない。
俺の場合、アルバム"Time Fades Away" (1973)も評価しているのだが、たとえば、以下、アルバム"On the Beach" (1974)についての記述の一部。
When it appeared later that summer, On the Beach was welcomed as something of a return to form after the disappointment of his previous release, Time Fades Away. Reviewers saw it primarily as a despairing reflection on both Young's psyche and Nixon's America. Ian MacDonald of the NME, however, made even greater claims---subsequently endorsed by Rogan in his biography. On the Beach, according to MacDonald, was Young's equivalent of Lennon's first 'primal-scream' solo album, a cathartic rejection of the performer's personal and artistic past, the storm before the calm.
